Empower Your Future
Enhance Your Skills with Our Regulated Courses
This is where my learning turns into a recognised qualification that can change my career…
I’m ready to gain a nationally recognised qualification that really counts – something I can put on my CV, show to employers, and use as a stepping stone into new roles and higher levels of study. I want a clear structure, expert support, and a regulated course that proves what I can do, not just what I’ve attended.
What Do We Mean by “Regulated” Courses?
When I choose a regulated qualification, I’m choosing a course that is:
- Approved and monitored by an official regulator (such as Ofqual in England).
- Delivered by an approved training centre that must meet strict quality standards.
- Mapped to a specific Level (for example Level 2, 3, 4 or 5) so employers and other providers understand the depth of my learning.
- Assessed against clear learning outcomes, not just attendance. I have to show my knowledge, skills and understanding through assignments, observations, portfolios or exams.
- Recorded on an official qualification framework, so it’s recognised nationally and can be used to progress into other qualifications or roles.
In short, a regulated qualification is more than just a course – it’s a formal credential that proves my competence and can open doors to new opportunities.
Regulated Qualifications vs Accredited Courses – What’s the Difference?
I often hear words like “regulated”, “accredited” and “endorsed” used together – but they’re not the same. Here’s what it really means for me as a learner.
Regulated Qualifications
Accredited / Short Courses
- Are official qualifications on a national framework (for example Ofqual-regulated in England).
- Have units, credits and levels that clearly show the size and difficulty of the qualification.
- Follow strict rules about assessment, internal quality assurance (IQA) and external quality checks.
Are ideal if I want to:
- Progress into higher education or further study
- Apply for roles that require a specific level or qualification
- Evidence my competence to employers, professional bodies or funders
- Are approved or endorsed by a professional or accreditation body, but not regulated by a government regulator.
- Are often shorter, more flexible and focused on practical skills (for example specific beauty treatments, soft skills, or CPD).
- Give me a certificate of achievement/attendance, but they’re usually not listed on the national qualifications framework.
Are ideal if I want to:
- Add new treatments or skills quickly
- Top up my CPD
- Explore a subject without committing to a full qualification
Both options are valuable – but a regulated qualification gives me a formally recognised, levelled credential, whereas an accredited course gives me flexible, skills-based learning that’s perfect for upskilling and CPD.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to start with Level 2 or Level 3?
Not always. I’ll be guided to the right level based on my experience, role and previous learning. The aim is to place me where I can succeed – stretched but supported.
Will a regulated qualification be harder than an accredited course?
A regulated qualification usually involves more depth, assessment and written/portfolio work than a short accredited course. But I’ll have clear guidance, templates and tutor support every step of the way.
How long will it take me to complete?
That depends on the qualification level, the number of units and my personal pace. Some qualifications may take a few months; others may run over a longer period. I’ll receive an outline at the start so I can plan around work and life.
Can I do a regulated course alongside my job or business?
Yes. Many learners complete their regulated qualifications while working full-time, running a business or managing family commitments. The course is designed to be achievable alongside real life.
Will it really make a difference to my career?
A regulated qualification shows employers, funders and organisations that my skills meet an official standard. It can support applications for promotions, new roles, and further study – and gives me confidence that I genuinely know my stuff.
I’m not very confident with assignments – will I get help?
Absolutely. I’ll receive support with understanding the questions, planning my answers, structuring my work and reflecting on my practice. I’m not left to figure it out on my own.
Ready to Start Your Regulated Qualification?
I’m ready to invest in myself, gain a recognised qualification and open new doors in my career. I’d like help choosing the right path and understanding what’s involved.
