The IQA Award is a level 4 qualification and is ideal for you if you are responsible for maintaining quality of assessment within an organisation. On completion, you will understand the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment. There are 2 mandatory units to complete and it is ideal if you have prior knowledge and understanding about assessment. You will fully understand the role of an IQA by the end of this course, including:
- The need to plan IQA activities
- How to carry out reliable monitoring activities
- The importance of providing constructive feedback to assessors.

Study Methods
We offer this course as classroom based delivery or you have the option of studying on a distance learning basis. This option allows you to study in the comfort of your own home and at a pace to suit you. The course has both theory and practical units. You will learn the theory of the principles and practices of internal quality assurance, and this is completed in the classroom. Evidence will then need to be gathered within the workplace. The evidence gathered must demonstrate how you monitor the activities of two different assessors. Finally, we will observe you in your IQA role. This observation will take place in the workplace.
Duration
If you choose classroom based delivery you will attend our training centre to complete the theory units. You will then have between 3 and 6 months to complete the practical units. This includes an observation in your role as an IQA. If you choose distance learning, you will have 12 months to complete all units. Please note, you will still need to have an observation of you carrying out your IQA role. Whichever study route you choose, you will receive the support needed to successfully complete the course.
Assessment Methods
To complete the IQA Award you will need to create portfolio of evidence demonstrating your achievement of all the learning outcomes and you will be assessed against the criteria.
